Day 8: Cervantes to Denham

Today we treated ourselves to a little sleep in and a hot breakfast at the hotel, before embarking on today’s journey.

Scenic Stops: Hansens Beach and The Pinnacles

Following a hearty breakfast, our journey continued with a short detour to Hansens beach. The serene coastline provided an exceptional backdrop for photographs, capturing the essence of the coastal charm. Breathing in the fresh, invigorating sea air revitalised us for the day ahead. This brief pause allowed us to connect with the natural beauty intrinsic to this part of the journey.

The next notable stop was The Pinnacles Desert, a landscape that stands out for its unique and fascinating limestone formations. Located within Nambung National Park, The Pinnacles draw visitors from all corners of the globe, eager to witness these geological marvels. Rising out of the desert sands, the myriad of limestone pillars varies in size and shape, creating an almost otherworldly scene. This extraordinary sight is a testament to nature’s artistry over thousands of years, shaped by wind, rain, and the passage of time.

For those keen to delve deeper into the origins and the history behind these formations, the Visit Pinnacles Country website offers extensive geological and historical information. According to these resources, The Pinnacles were formed approximately 25,000 to 30,000 years ago after seashells were broken down into lime-rich sands. Over time, these sands compacted and eroded, eventually creating the stunning pillars we see today.

The Pinnacles Desert is not only a geologically significant site but also a visually captivating one. As we wandered among the towering structures, the shifting shadows and varying hues of the desert sands added layers of depth to the experience. Indeed, the enchantment of The Pinnacles made this stop an unforgettable highlight of our journey.
